Set in 1930s Holland, Teeming looks out at a world on the edge of modernity through a deliberately autistic perspective, wide-angle, uncompromising, and intensely interior. At its heart are Frank and Sara, two minds who refuse to sit still inside the boundaries set for them. They stim, echo, spiral, fall in and out of love, drift into radicalisation, and learn unevenly and urgently how to survive in a society that has no language for who they are.

Their private world unfolds alongside the public one, where history gathers force without asking permission. In the background moves Marinus van der Lubbe, drawn into events that place him at the centre of political machinations far beyond his control, becoming both participant and pawn in a tightening historical grip.

Teeming is a novel about perception, dissonance, and connection, about what it means to think, feel, and persist in a world that does not yet recognise you.
