SPEAKING

Communication is what I do!

On a stage, in a seminar room, or via a Zoom link, being in direct contact with others remains the most effective way I know to create lasting change.

I’m an autism speaker and deliver neurodiversity training and autism training for organisations, with experience across education, gender and sexuality, mental health, social care, employment, and autistic and neurodivergent intersectionality.

My work focuses on how autistic people can achieve full representation within organisations, recognise and develop their talents, and contribute to meaningful change in society by building on their strengths and special interests.

I also speak about the vulnerability of autistic young people to online manipulation and radicalisation, focusing on understanding risk and supporting the development of critical awareness and resilience.

Speaking formats include:

  • Keynotes
  • Conference talks
  • Panels
  • Online events

I am willing and able to travel throughout the UK and Ireland, as well as across Europe. I am a native speaker of English and Dutch, highly proficient in German and French, and proficient in Spanish. I can work with you and your staff in any of these languages.

If you’d like to book me to speak at your event or arrange neurodiversity training or autism training for organisations, please use the contact form below.

Conversion Therapy and Neurodiversity: Where’s the Line?

Online talk for the University of Exeter LGBTQ+ Network and the Cornwall Disability Network in March as part of Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

In this talk I explore the absence of a UK ban on conversion therapy and what this means for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent people. I focus on how neurodivergent people, many of whom are also LGBTQIA+, can be vulnerable to coercive practices within support services, and the intersections of gender, sexuality, disability and neurodiversity.

Jorik spoke clearly about neurodiversity, sharing personal accounts and advice on supporting neurodivergent colleagues and teams. His communication enabled people to open up and ask questions about their work challenges.

REVOLUTION - Theatre Education for Neurodivergent Creatives

In July 2023, Jorik speaks with Valerie Kaneko-Lucas from the Society for Theatre Research about being an autistic theatre practitioner, the need for institutional change, and how neurodivergent perspectives challenge exclusion in the arts.

Founded in 1948, the Society for Theatre Research supports British theatre scholarship through events, publications, and funding, fostering dialogue between academics, industry professionals, and the public.
