Queer Neurodivergent Writers Network

The Queer Neurodivergent Writers Network (QNDN) is a free, online writing group for LGBTQIA+ neurodivergent writers.

We started QNDN because we wanted a writing space where neurodivergence and queerness aren’t things to “work around”, but part of how we make and understand creative work. A lot of writing spaces tend to recognise one or the other, not both. QNDN is for both.

Now, we’re an international community of writers who meet to write together, share work, exchange ideas, and support each other’s creative lives.

Who is QNDN for?

QNDN is for anyone who identifies as both LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent.

You don’t need a diagnosis, a publication history, or any formal writing experience. Some people are just starting out, others have been writing for years. Self-identification is enough.

What happens in a meeting?

We meet online twice a month:

  • Tuesday evenings, 19:00–21:00 (UK time)
  • Sunday afternoons, 14:00–16:00 (UK time)

Sessions usually follow a simple rhythm:

We start with a gentle check-in, then move into optional sharing. You can read your own writing, ask someone else to read it, or just listen. Feedback is always optional — and can happen in the moment or afterwards.

After a short break, we write together. Sometimes we use prompts, sometimes people continue existing projects. There’s no pressure to perform or participate in any particular way.

The main idea is just: write alongside other people who get it.

Accessibility

People communicate in different ways, and we try to make space for that.

You can take part by voice, chat, or both. Facilitators can read out chat messages when helpful, and captions are enabled during meetings.

You’re welcome to step back, stay quiet, join in later, or just listen the whole time. All of that counts as participation.

Beyond the meetings

QNDN also runs a newsletter sharing opportunities, events, and writing from the community.

We have spaces for staying connected between meetings, including Discord and WhatsApp groups.

We also occasionally host guest facilitators and special events.

Events and upcoming things

Frome in-person meeting

We’re running our first ever face-to-face QNDN session in Frome:

Sunday 5th July 2026, 14:00–16:00
The Good Heart café and community space
7 Palmer Street, Frome

This will run at the same time as the online meeting as an experiment — to see if we can connect both spaces together. If it works well, we’ll continue monthly in-person meetings. If not, we’ll still meet in Frome on a rotating Sunday schedule starting later in the year.

Autscape Talk

If you want more background on QNDN and how it’s developed over the last few years, we’ve recently given a talk at Autscape 2026. We’re sharing it in the newsletter and would love it if people pass it on.

COMING SOON...

Join Us

QNDN is free to attend and entirely volunteer-run.

If you’d like to join a session, receive the newsletter, or find out more, get in touch:

We believe neuroqueer writers deserve spaces where they can write, connect, and create without needing to explain themselves first.

QNDN exists to help make that a bit easier.
