Hi everyone,

Unfortunately, I’ve been too busy and tired these past two weeks to commit to my blog. Yesterday, I completely crashed. I was going to write about autism and learning disabilities but to do that justice, I need more time. I go on about resting so much, I might as well follow my own advice.

We went to a wedding the weekend before last! I had such a busy week that I’m only now really recovering from it.

Work-wise, I have had several meetings this week and last week, about many exciting things to do with activism, writing and speaking. It was a lot but there’s good things up ahead. For this blog, I’ve got a short call to action and some excellent videos. In the meantime, here’s a cow on my head (see above).

Conversion Therapy

We need to hold the UK government accountable for backsliding towards a less inclusive society. Trans, ace and gender-nonconforming people need to be in the ban! But so do we.

is the link, contact your member of Parliament. I have. Make sure you spread the word about the fact that ABA and conversion therapy are the same thing, created by the same man, for the same purposes.

But What If They Don’t Believe Me?

The autistic community is having a reckoning with ABA therapy. We should listen | Fortune is an excellent resource, found by friend of the blog Roísín Moriarty.

“Building a Person”: Legal and Clinical Personhood for Autistic and Trans Children in Ontario | Canadian Journal of Law and Society / La Revue Canadienne Droit et Société | Cambridge Core is a more academic resource by an allistic ally who’s trans an runs trans autistic groups in Ontario. He looks very sound.

Why the ‘treatment’ of autism is a form of conversion therapy | Xtra Magazine is also strong.

If that doesn’t work, use my own blog from last year: Monday 7th June 2021: Pride Season – Conversion Therapy and ABA (spoiler alert: they are the same) – Jorik Mol Because I’m brilliant, ok?

So are you just going to go now, Jorik?

Um, yeah.

Instead, here is some excellent work from some excellent Autistic and/or queer creators on youtube. Go on, treat yourself. I’ll see you next week!

Creative photography often focuses on expressing the beauty of the human form.
It is about expression rather than appearance.
Skilled photographers use subtle contrasts to create atmosphere.
Such images emphasize authenticity and character.
